ok this one is immediately a bit more lo fi but im engaged with the music and the way this guy sits on beats is comforting, i get to hear what hes sayin. THAT BEAT IS CHUGGIN while MIDAS SALIVAH lines his ducks up HAHAHAHA QUAK~!!

im noticing now this guy sort of keeps little nuggets peepin around every corner. after that second hook there an interlude, the way things are MIXED has MIDAS SALIVA BOUNCING IN YOUR LEFT AND RIGHT EARS , it creates a nice SOUNDSCAPE where as lots of hip hop is a bit thick and in your face, even though this is lo fi-ish , it has a nice depth of sound field to it. GOOD JOB attention to detail to it... . .

ok, some drums just thumpin along, what;s gonna join? I HEAR A DISTANT bassline , perhaps played in a sewer very far away. OH PERHAPS oscar peterson is there tinkling on his keys. in a SUIT AND BOWTIE IS RAPPER MIDAS SALIVAH! telling me his stories over this supremely jazzy music. "dames like this just get him goin!!" nice little singing voice its not just for Drake hahaha.

i felt this guy REALLY embodies what im trying to do here, im so privileged to know him personally....

PLEASE check out his WEBSITE. right now. i'll hold!! WOW. I think he has over two hundred pieces? some of which are lengthy classical works, others are instrumental hip hop explorations, many folk songs, LOTS of experiments.

the work ethic and imagination on this guy is VERY attractive from a listeners perspective, he goes for EVERYTHING.

OH WOW! no time to waste, we mustnt be late said the rabbit to alice!!! THIS ONE STARTS WITH A CACOPHONY THAT QUICKLY TURNS OUT TO BE THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD. sounding like lots of sampled noises, we are taking through a very very nice texture of percussion that is the BED, this is the very BED in which the other MUSIC is laid down upon. IF YOU HAVE A COMFY BED, you can be sure you are going to have a good sleep. as VOCALIZATIONS from MAESTRO PATRICK POWER (super hero name?!) pour out in stereo, we are met with some man telling us sweet nothings. TEXTURE IS EVERYTHING to me, and the texture of this one is an absolute pleasure.

WHY i like it so much is...

oh wait, we just turned a corner???? what seemed like some futurist work gives way to a woman singing over a guitar, WOW its like a just got VIOLATED! i LOVE being violated in music. but in a good way, like, if someone through something at you but the thing they threw at you was something youve ALWAYS wanted for christmas but never told anyone. ITS A GOOD SURPRISE.


the percussion joins the woman singing... and some strange noises barge in as its going on. is this TONAL? ATONAL? FUTURIST? POST MODERN!?!?

HAHAAH

THAT ENDING! A great gesture.


ok, its over now. why I like this one so much is it has a beat, you have at least a constant to grab onto. but with that constant we are hit with some really interesting sounds, i think it works because we have such a nice steady beat. i luv when musicians arent afraid of making music that could upset people. i could see someone who doesnt luv themselves say "turn that off" but i luv myself and i think this piece is a very FUN expression..

all the things i need to have a good time. this is that rootsy stuff GIVE THIS MAN A POLARIS PRIZE hhaahah. im realllllllly enjoying the texture of the vocals over lapping here, WOW "cinnniiimooonnnonnnn" or something, was a GREAT vocal line. this melody. this melody is VERY RARE AND IMPORTANT. THIS MELODY COMES STRAIGHT FORM THE HEART! it is weaving VERY tasty tasty with the guitar work. the transitions here are VERY VERY thoughtful, this guy knows stuff.

A NEW SECTIONS. to me this is honest music, we went to just a very nice pop song to an exploration of self.

the guitar SINGS OUT very FOREIGN melodies (it doesnt matter where you came from) a small hint at the first theme rushes out of the guitar, transposed somehow..

we are FREE of tempo, one of modern musics greatest chains. freedom.. space.... i feel.....safe.........a guitar solo, claps CLAPS CLAPS! EXCITE ME!! THE GUITAR BROUGHT ME BACK TO THE FIRST PLACE!!
